What is EC?

Electrical Conductivity (EC) is defined by the ability of a solution to conduct an electrical current.EC value can be used to measure the solubility salt density of liquor, and can also be used to measure solubility ion density of iquid fertilizer or planting medium . High density solubility salts can make plant damaged or make plant root dead. EC value's unit is mS/cm or mmhos/cm,and measured temperature is about 25Deg.C.

The normal EC value range is 1-4mmhos(or mS/cm). If EC of matrix is too high, it may cause reverse osmosis to make water of root displace out which will make root tip Browning or dry.

What is TDS?

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is defined as the amount of solids dissolved in a solution. Its main components are calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium ion and carbonate ions, carbonic acid hydrogen ions, from the son of chlorine, sulfuric acid ion and nitric acid ion. The amount of solids dissolved is related with flavour of water. Different TDS and relationship with flavour of water as below:
*Great, TDS is less than 300mg/L
*Good, TDS 300-600mg/L
*Common, TDS 600-900mg/L
*Poor, 900-1200mg/L
*Undrinkable, over 1200mg/L

But the TDS is too low, flavour of water will be very tasteless and insipid, and won't be welcome. TDS of water comes from natural water, sewer, city and agricultural wastewater and industrial waste water.TDS from natural sources has a huge different as different area, the different range can be from 300mg/L to 6000mg/L.
